Celebrex Description
Celebrex is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is commonly used as treatment for pain and swelling. Celecoxib works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. It is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by many conditions such as arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and menstrual pain. Celecoxib is also used in the treatment of hereditary polyps in the colon.
Celebrex Directions for Intake:
- Celebrex is taken orally, as often as indicated in the prescription of your doctor
- Usually prescribed with a dosage of 100mg to 200mg once or twice a day
- One should stay in an upright position for at least 30 minutes after intake
- Finish the entire amount that was prescribed even after beginning to feel better
- Take any missed dose as soon as it is remembered. However, do not double the dosage of your medication at any particular assigned time
- In case of Celebrex overdose, seek medical attention immediately
Celebrex Directions for Storage:
- Store this medication in a place away from moist, light and extreme heat and should not be accessible to children
- The appropriate temperature for the storage area is between 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 to 30 degrees Celsius
Celebrex Side Effects:
- Possible side effects include stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea, serious skin reactions, stomach or intestine problems such as bleeding and ulcers, severe headache, yellowing of the eyes, unusual feeling of fatigue, and unexplained weight gain
- Increases a person's chances of having heart attack or stroke
Precautions on taking Celebrex:
- Consult your doctor before taking Celebrex. Make sure to give your doctor a complete background of your medical history
- Inform your physician of any other prescription or over-the-counter medications that you’re currently taking, especially the following medications: fluconazole, lithium, “water pills” or diuretics such as furosemide, treatments for high blood pressure, corticosteroids, ACE inhibitors, “blood thinners” such as warfarin, and non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) such as ibuprofen
- Inform your physician of any previous or present experience of having heart surgeries, aspirin-sensitive asthma, allergic reactions due to aspirin and arthritis medications or sulfonamides, ulcers or bleeding in the stomach, high blood pressure or heart failure, kidney or liver problems, and diabetes
- If you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant, consult your doctor before taking Celebrex
- If you are lactating, it may be harmful to use Celebrex
