Description
Paxil works as one of the highly recommended medications for conditions such as depression, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), social anxiety disorder (social phobia), and generalized anxiety disorder. Paxil works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural chemicals in the brain.
Directions for Intake:
- Paxil is taken orally, as often as indicated in the prescription of your doctor
- It is usually taken once every morning
- Consume the entire amount that was prescribed even after beginning to feel better
- Take any missed dose as soon as it is remembered. However, do not double the dosage of your medication at any particular assigned time
- In case of Paxil overdose, seek medical attention immediately
Directions for Storage:
- Store this medication in a place away from moist, light and extreme heat and should not be accessible to children.
- The appropriate temperature for the storage area is between 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 to 30 degrees Celsius
Side Effects:
- Mild side effects of using this medication include mild side effects such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, diarrhea, trouble sleeping, constipation, and dry mouth
- Serious side effects include loss of appetite, unusual or severe mental/mood changes, increased sweating/flushing, unusual fatigue. uncontrolled movements (tremor), and decreased sexual drive
- Unlikely but serious side effects of using Paxil and it includes blurred vision, changes in sexual ability, painful and/or prolonged erection, and change in amount of urine
- Highly unlikely but very serious side effects include: fainting, irregular heartbeat, muscle pain, trouble swallowing, unusual swelling, and seizures, easy bruising or bleeding, and tingling or numbness of the hands/feet
- Paxil may cause an allergic reaction to some users
Precautions:
- Consult your doctor before taking Paxil. Make sure to give your doctor a complete background of your medical history
- Inform your physician of any previous experience of having liver problems, kidney problems, seizures, heart problems, other mental/mood disorders (e.g., bipolar disorder), thyroid problems, and any allergies
- This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Activities that require you to be alert (i.e. driving or operating heavy machineries) should be avoided
- Limit alcoholic beverages while taking this medication
- The elderly may be more sensitive to the effects of Paxil
- If you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant, consult your doctor before taking Paxil
