Description
Generic Name: Valacyclovir-oral (val-uh-SYE-klo-veer)
Valtrex is used to treat cold sores (herpes labialis) and shingles (herpes zoster). It is also used to treat genital herpes in patients with normal immune systems. It can also be used to control genital herpes outbreaks in all patients, including those with HIV.
Directions for Intake:
- Valtrex is taken orally, as often as indicated in the prescription of your doctor
- It is important to drink more fluids while taking this medication
- Finish the entire amount that was prescribed even after beginning to feel better
- Take any missed dose as soon as it is remembered. However, do not double the dosage of your medication at any particular assigned time
- In case of Valtrex overdose, seek medical attention immediately
Directions for Storage:
- Store this medication in a place away from moist, light and extreme heat and should not be accessible to children
- The appropriate temperature for the storage area is between 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 to 30 degrees Celsius
Side Effects
- Possible side effects may include nausea, vomiting, headache, loss of appetite, weakness, stomach pain, and dizziness
- Valtrex may cause an allergic reaction to some users
Precautions:
